8th PSSI-Plasma Scholars Colloquium (PSC-2020) Concludes
The two-day 8th PSSI-Plasma Scholars Colloquium (PSC-2020), organized by Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI) in association with Department of Physics, School of Applied Sciences, KIIT Deemed to be University, concluded on 9th October, 2020.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Dr. Sudeep Bhattacharjee motivated all the young scholars towards high end research. Dr. P. K. Atrey, President, PSSI expressed his good wishes to KIIT Deemed to be University for virtually hosting PSC 2020. Dr. Paritosh Chaudhuri, General Secretary, PSSI congratulated KIIT on successful conduct of the Colloquium.
Earlier, the first technical session, on the theme ‘Basic Plasma Theory’, of the second day of the Colloquium was chaired by Dr. N Ramasubramaniyan. Invited lectures were delivered by Dr R Ganesh of IPR and Dr. X Mushinzimana from University of Rwanda. The session also featured 11 oral presentations from researchers working in this field from all over the country.
The last technical session of the colloquium was based on Dusty Plasma, Laser Plasma and Plasma Applications and it was chaired by Dr. Santanu Karkari. The invited lecture of this session was delivered by Dr. Alphonsa Joseph of IPR that was followed by 10 oral presentations.
Dr. S. K. S. Parashar, Convenor, PSC 2020 announced the best presentation award. The first prize was awarded to A. Nanda from IIT Kanpur. The second prize went to T Macwan of IPR. The third position was shared by N Shukla of IIT Roorkee and M Shukla of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat.
More than 100 participants joined online in this colloquium. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Bhavya Bhushan, Dept. of Physics, KIIT-DU, who also coordinated the meet. The organizing team expressed their gratitude to Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS; Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, VC, KIIT-DU; Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro VC; Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar; and Prof. P.
