World Patient Safety Day 2024 Celebrated at KINS

The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), arranged a CNE Program to celebrate World Patient Safety Day-2024 recently on the theme “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety”. The focus of this program was to raise Global Awareness about Patient Safety and call for solidarity and united action by all countries and international partners to reduce patient harm.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Niyati Das, Principal, KINS, who sparked enthusiasm among the audience. The special talk was delivered by Dr. Avinash Barpanda, Associate consultants, CCM, PBM Hospital, KIMS. He shared valuable insights on Sepsis Screening Tools, emphasized Safe Medication Practices and focused on Preventing medication errors and their management to ensure better patient safety.

The second special talk was delivered by Ms. Rasmita Khandai, Infection Control Nurse in-charge, PBM Hospital, KIMS. She discussed the importance of fostering a Patient Safety Culture and effective communication to improve patient outcomes.

To provide a creative representation on theme, a MIME SHOW was performed by GNM 2nd year students of KINS. Mrs. Devasmita Sahoo, Asst. Professor at KINS was given responsibility to organize the entire program. The event concluded successfully with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Sradhanjali Nayak, Tutor, KINS.
