KINS Observes World Mental Health Day
Mental Health Nursing Department of Kalinga Institute Of Nursing Sciences (KINS) , a constituent of KIIT-DU, observed World Mental Health Day on October 10 at Harekrishna Nagar, Niladri Vihar with the theme “Mental health is a universal human right.”
World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma and is observed annually.
The programme started with a rally on the road of Niladri Vihar and outstanding psycho-education was given to the community people through role play on “Distinct Strategies of Prevention of Mental Disorders and Rights of Mentally Ill Persons” by GNM second year students, which took a crucial role to create awareness and disseminate the useful information on promoting mental health, preventive measures, warning signs, role of support systems of preventing various mental disorders among general people and their caregivers. Around 100 participants (family members, students and faculties of Mental Health Nursing Department) attended the programme.
The programme ended with a speech about the importance of support to the mentally ill patients in the society as well as creating hope within a person to live his/her life .
It was a very effective and enriched event with knowledge, awareness sharing and locals also got engaged enthusiastically in the entire process.
