KINS Observes World Autism Day With Special Children

The Child Health Nursing Department of Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences, KIIT-DU observed the World Autism Awareness Day – 2024 at Divine Child Integral School for Special Children under Ritwikabha Public Charitable Trust.

The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Manju Ray, Director of the Divine Child Integral School in the presence of Dr.Niyati Das, Principal and Mrs. Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal of KINS. Dr. Dipti Damayanti Pradhan, Associate Professor of the Paediatric Department of KIMS, delivered a speech on the Awareness Programme.

The awareness programme was followed by a NUKKAD, performed by our B.Sc.(N) 5th semester and GNM 2nd year students. A musical chair competition was also conducted for special children and the prize was given away by respected Principal and the Vice Principal.

All the faculties of the Paediatric Department of KINS, M.Sc. Paediatric and Mental Health Nursing students participated in this Awareness Programme. The Interaction with the autistic children was very special.

Autism is a neuro-developmental condition of variable severity with lifelong effects that can be recognized from early childhood, characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication and by restricted thought and behaviour.
