KINS faculty joins TOT on simulation based education in Gurugram

Faculty members of Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) Prof. Asokan R and Devasmita Sahoo attended an orientation programme for training of trainers (TOT) at the National Reference Simulation Centre (NRSC) on simulation-based education in collaboration with the Indian Nursing Council (INC) at Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary (SGT) University, Gurugram, Haryana from March 13 to 18.

The first day of the training started with a pre-test and focusing different topics i.e. circle of learning, scope of nursing, use of checklist and objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and characteristics of trainers.

The second day started with covering different topics like adult learning techniques, decision making, case study demonstration and instrumental orientation. The inauguration session was graced by Dr. T Dileep Kumar, President, INC.

The third day included the introduction of simulation, video sessions on grey’s anatomy, assumptions, pre-brief, debriefing, simulation training with how to make the scenario discussion and video-based simulation.

Followed by the fourth, fifth, and sixth day of the training, different participants conducted independently. Various simulation sessions under the supervision and guidance of NRSC trainers were done.

Hands-on practice on the use of checklists and OSCE, advocacy inquiry in different groups, and case studies were illustreated followed by a discussion on action planning, post-test, and collecting feedback of the training was done.

The training concluded with a valedictory session which was graced by Officiating Director, NRSC, Anu Grover, SGT University. Feedback was given by the participants. Certificates were distributed to the participants by officiating director, NRSC, Anu Grover, and a team of the TOT.
