KINS Co-Hosts International Asia Pacific Conference on “Nursing and Healthcare”
Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), being one of the pioneer Nursing Colleges of Odisha and India, believes in cultivating knowledge and invests in research. Continuing this legacy, KINS co-hosted an International Asia Pacific Conference around the theme, “Obstacles and Developments in the Field of Nursing Sciences and Healthcare” in association with Society for Nursing Practices and Bio Leagues Worldwide. The two-day conference was organised by SFNP (Society for Nursing Practice) in hybrid mode on 1st and 2nd December 2021 at Dubai. Prof. Niyati Das, Principal, KINS was the Co-organizing Secretary and Prof. Kalyan Rath, Vice Principal and Prof. Asokan R. were the Co-organizing Committee Members.
Speaking on the inaugural day, Dr. Sumaya Mohammed Alblooshi, Director of Nursing Department, EHS, UAE and Head of National Science and Midwifery Committee spoke extensively on the theme of obstacles and developments in the fields of nursing sciences and health care.
Dr. L. Gopichandran, Associate Prof., AIIMS, TNAI President (Delhi Branch), Founder SOCN; Mr. Rudra Bhanu Satpathy, CEO, TechnoareteGroup; Dr. S. P. Subhalaxmi, Dean, Galgotias School of Nursing; Dr. Vasantha Kumari, Associate Prof., Dept of Child Health Nursing, Wollega University, Ethiopia; Dr. L. Laxmi, Dean, Sathyabama College of Nursing, Sathyabama University; Dr. Miriam C. A. Wagoro, Principal, School of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, Kenya; and Prof. Niyati Das graced the inaugural session.
The inaugural session was followed by a scientific session and paper presentation by speakers from across the globe. Dr. Jezly Culamora, Sarvodaya College of Nursing elaborated in details about new Emerging Trends in Nursing and Healthcare. Mrs. Pramila Thapa explained scientific use of social media at work and Dr. Ketan Parikh, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, Founder & Managing Director: Pyramid Telemedicine, India explained about optimising telemedicine by emulating the Pyramidal Healthcare Model.
The scientific oral paper presentation session was chaired by Prof. Mrs. Niyati Das and Prof. Asokan R. Many students, including UG & PG students, and faculties from all over the world presented their research papers on the first day of the conference.
On the second day, Dr. Indrajit Bhatacharya, National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, India spoke on “Healthcare Amelioration: Challenges and Threats”. Dr. Chidi Chike Achebe, Chairman and CEO, AIDE, United States explored new research techniques of Methodology and Data Collection. It was followed by the scientific oral paper presentations. Around 300 participants from various countries attended the conference.
