Presentation on “My Research Philosophies and Research Interests” at KSMC

The underlying motive was to understand the research compatibility between supervisors and students.

The School of Mass Communication (SMC), KIIT Deemed University hosted a three-day presentation series titled “My Research Philosophies and Research Interests” for its final year Bachelor and Master’s students from August 16 – 18, 2021. The presentations streamlined the understanding of research compatibility between the students and the supervisors. It witnessed the discussion of various research philosophies and ideas by the faculty members and encouraged students to develop and decide their areas of interest. This effort was a part of the dissertation course of students from Semester V & VI (Bachelor programme) and Semester III & IV (Master’s programme).

The online sessions were facilitated by Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator of the School. Although the discussion was for the final year students, participants from all the years were welcome. Eight faculty members presented their philosophies and interests in this discussion series. The first day saw Assistant Professors Dr Bidu Bhusan Dash, Ms. Ruby Nanda, and Dr. Anurag Sahu leads a fruitful dialogue with the students. The second day began with a presentation by Mr. Souptik Garai, Assistant Professor, followed by Faculty Associates Ms. Sananda Mukherjee, and Ms. Chinmoyee Deka. The last day of presentations evidenced ideas by Assistant Professors Dr. Ratan Kumar Roy and Mr. Aniruddha Jena. The presentations touched upon various fundamental elements of research and exciting ideas. Some of them include Developmental Journalism, Online Journalism, Advertising, AR/VR Communication Technology, Health Communication, Environmental Journalism, Transcultural Flow, and Media’s Role among the Marginalized.

Aprajita Singhal, Charles Karanja Munderu, Shreya Kundu, Urvy Yaduvanshi and other students actively participated in the sessions and assisted a healthy learning experience for all.
