KSMC Professors Join as Resource Persons in University of Jaffna Training Programme

Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash and Ms. Sananda Mukherjee from School of Mass Communication, KIIT Deemed University (KSMC) delivered a joint lecture and shared observations and experiences on different community issues and their portrayal using multimedia platforms like “Weblogs” at University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka on 23rd January 2022.

The lecture was a part of a training programme organized by the Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum for the students of BA Journalism and Mass Communication students of the University of Jaffna. Dr. Dash, an assistant professor and course coordinator of KSMC, discussed the different aspects of community issues like girl child marriage, caste, country liquor, poverty, access to commons and related issues, whereas Ms. Mukherjee, a senior faculty associate from KSMC, spoke on the emergence of blogs and how they can be the appropriate platform to talk about community issues and instigate thoughts in the minds of the public. Ms. Mukherjee also added a practical session on how to start a “Weblog” and how to use its features in her talk. The session was kept interactive by efforts of the speaker, students and host.

The session was coordinated and hosted by Dr. M. C. Rasmin on behalf of the Department of Media Studies, University of Jaffna. Both host and resource persons conveyed thanks to Dr. S. Raghuram, Head of the Department, for taking this initiative.
