KSMC PR Club Announces Results of Press Release Writing Competition
The PR Club of School of Mass Communication, KIIT-DU (KSMC) organized an online result announcement ceremony for the National Level Press Release Writing Competition for Masters/PG Diploma students on 30th October, 2021. Mr Arindam Basu, Senior Faculty, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata graced the event attended by KSMC faculty, KSMC PR Club members, students, and participants of the competition.
The ceremony began with a brief introduction of KIIT Deemed to be University by the moderator, Baisakhi Mishra, Joint Secretary, KSMC PR Club followed by a brief description of the inception of KSMC PR Club by Priyanshi Tripathy, President, KSMC PR Club. Mr. Himanshu Sekhar Khatua, CEO, SFMS, SFT & SMC appreciated the efforts of the club members and encouraged the participants while emphasizing the need to attract more members to grow the club.
Mr. Basu shared many useful tips, with examples, about press release writing such as the three important things to focus on – immediacy, new story, and interest of the public. Following his talk, M. Snehanjali, Secretary, KSMC PR Club announced the results of the competition. The first position was bagged by Niluptal Timsina of Tezpur University, Assam followed by Suman Shekhar Rajhans of the Institute of Media Studies and Charles Karanja Munderu of KIIT School of Mass Communication tied in the second position and Zainab Shahid Husaini of Aligarh Muslim University at third.
Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Course Coordinator, KSMC congratulated the winners and shared the details of the evaluation process. Mr. Khatua thanked the club members and congratulated the participants on behalf of the School. “You are a PR person, you can be a lobbyist, but never a mediator”- these words by Mr. Basu embodies the essence of Press Release writing. Lastly, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ankita Khanrah, Executive Member, KSMC PR Club.
