KSMC Organizes Alumni Talk Series
In order to strengthen the alumni network and to make the alumni involved in the process of the School’s growth, School of Mass Communication, KIIT Deemed to be University (KSMC) organized an Alumni Talk Series on virtual mode. KSMC Alumni Talk Series is a series of talk programmes and the first session of this series was organized on 21st January 2022.
Ms Sandhya Agrawal, a student of 2017-20 batch, was invited as the speaker to deliver a talk on ‘Offbeat Activities”.
Ms Agrawal has been working as a freelancer and contributing stories and articles from her student time. She completed her internship from the Press Council of India (PCI), Ministry of Minority Affairs and Zee Media Corporations. She had served as a freelance journalist at Delhi Post. She was the assistant editor of Business Connect Magazine for a time period. At present she is working as a proof-reader at Inshorts, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
In her talk, she elaborated the importance of extracurricular activities and profile management in shaping the career. Citing her own experience, she spoke about the efforts she is taking to polish her writing skills. Apart from these, she explained the optimal use of software and tools to develop a fair sense of writing. She also spoke how participation in various competitions helped her to strengthen her skills. Further, she talked about the importance of professional networks which adds value to one’s career. She suggested opting for freelancing as a career option which gives enough opportunity as well as financial support.
At the end of her talk, students from all the batches asked a few pertinent questions related to their career and soft skills. Ms Agrawal answered all the questions suitably much to the satisfaction of the participants.
The session was initiated by Dr. Anurag Sahu, Faculty-In-Charge, Alumni, KSMC, followed by a brief introduction by Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Course Coordinator, KSMC. Ms Ruby Nanda, Assistant Professor, KSMC shared her memory with the batch.
At the end of the session, M. Snehanjali, a student of Semester-VI proposed a vote of thanks.
