KSMC Faculty Joins as a Panellist at ‘Virtual Manthan 2022’

Dr. Anurag Sahu, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Mass Communication was invited as one of the panellists at the annual discussion session, ‘Virtual Manthan’, of Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC), a Not-for-Profit organization that seeks to create a robust and vibrant eco-system for quality vocational education and skill development in media and entertainment space. The topic for the session was “Integrating M&E into Formal Education”.

The other panellists were: Mr. V.L.V.S.S. Subba Rao, retired Principal Economic Adviser, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India; Mr. Ashish Kulkarni, Founder, Punaryug Art Vision Pvt. Limited; Prof. Mahul Brahma, Professor and Dean, School of Media and Communication, Adamas University; Dr. Narendra Kaushik, Dean, School of Journalism & Mass Communication, JECRC University; Dr. Shefalika Narain, Dean, Atlas School of Media & Communication, Atlas University; Dr. Ritu Sood, Dean, SMFE, Sharda University; and Dr. Abhijit Bohra, Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Tezpur Central University.  

In his talk, Dr. Sahu spoke about the importance of education in human life and gave a brief note on the history of Journalism education in India and abroad. He discussed the chronological changes of the media market and media education. Media education is now much wider than the past, he stated, while discussing the Indian education market and the challenges associated with NEP 2020. He concluded his talk with an expectation of holistic, multidisciplinary, multilingualism and research-based culture in our education system.

After the talk, there was a discussion session on the challenges and opportunities of NEP 2020 in media and entertainment education. The session was moderated by Mr. Mohi Soni, Chief Executive Officer, MESC.
