KIIT School of Mass Communication Holds Hands-on Workshop on Creating Email Newsletter
School of Mass Communication, KIIT Deemed to be University held a day long online workshop on Creating Email Newsletter on 16th January 2021. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Aniruddha Jena, Research Assistant at UNESCO Chair on Community Media, Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad.
The workshop provided hands-on ideas and practical demonstration to the students of Master of Communication and Journalism and Bachelors of Communication and Journalism programmes. The basic objective was to equip them with the required skill and to build their online capacities to design an email newsletter using open-source and free platforms. The workshop was conducted in three sessions.
The first hour was about demonstrating and discussing the key and essential features of the open source and free platform to prepare email newsletter. The second session was devoted to practice. In this session, participants prepared demo email newsletters and shared it with the workshop conductor. The following hour was for discussion and feedback. In this session, the workshop conductor discussed and provided constructive feedback on students’ demo email newsletters.
Mr. Jena is a Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund (JNMF) Doctoral Fellow and Shastri Indo-Canada Institute Research Fellow at York University in Toronto, Canada. He is also an editorial member of CR News, the newsletter for community radio stations, published by UNESCO Chair on Community Media since 2010.
The workshop was moderated by Ms. Ruby Nanda, Assistant Professor. Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Course Coordinator, School of Mass Communication was also present at the workshop. It was highly appreciated by the participants.
