0

The Legal Aid Clinic of KIIT Law School organised a Legal Awareness Camp at the Panchayat Office, Dhabaleswar, Athagarh, with the objective of promoting legal literacy and empowering women with greater awareness of their rights, legal safeguards and welfare entitlements.

The programme witnessed the active participation of around 50 women from the local community, who engaged in an informative and interactive session with the Legal Aid Clinic team. The camp focused on women’s legal rights, constitutional safeguards, protection against gender-based violence, access to justice, and various government welfare schemes and initiatives available for women.

During the session, student members of the Legal Aid Clinic explained relevant legal provisions in a simple and accessible manner. The participants were also briefed about government welfare schemes and social security initiatives, including the avenues and procedures available for accessing such benefits. The programme sought to bridge the gap between legal provisions and their practical understanding at the grassroots level.

The interactive session provided the participating women with an opportunity to raise questions and discuss concerns relating to their legal rights, welfare entitlements and access to institutional support. The Legal Aid Clinic team responded to their queries and guided them regarding appropriate avenues for seeking legal assistance whenever required.

The programme was conducted under the guidance and coordination of Mr. Lokanath Mohapatra, Director, Legal Services, Dr. Pragnya Parimita Ray, and Mr. Shashank Nande. Ms. Amrita Bal, Assistant Legal Officer, was also present during the programme and contributed to the interaction with the community members.

Through such outreach initiatives, the Legal Aid Clinic seeks to strengthen legal awareness at the grassroots level and encourage citizens, particularly women and vulnerable sections of society, to understand and exercise their rights. The Legal Awareness Camp at Dhabaleswar, Athagarh, marked a meaningful step towards strengthening legal literacy, women’s empowerment and awareness of government welfare mechanisms, while providing students with valuable practical exposure to community-oriented legal service.
