KIIT Law School Organises Legal Awareness Camp at Mamata Short Stay Home, Cuttack
The Legal Services Clinic of KIIT Law School (KLS) organised a Legal Awareness Camp at Mamata Short Stay Home, Bidanasi, Bandhagada, Cuttack, with the objective of promoting legal awareness and access to justice among destitute, distressed, and homeless women residing at the institution.
Mamata Short Stay Home provides shelter and support to women from different age groups who are facing challenging social and personal circumstances. The camp focused on familiarising the residents with their legal rights, statutory protections, and various government welfare schemes aimed at ensuring their safety, dignity, rehabilitation, and empowerment.
As part of the initiative, student volunteers of the Legal Services Clinic interacted with the residents and sensitised them about important legal provisions relating to women’s rights, available legal remedies against exploitation and violence, and relevant government welfare initiatives. The interaction also provided a platform for the residents to share their concerns and understand the avenues available for accessing legal assistance and institutional support.
