KIIT Law School Celebrates Human Rights Day

KIIT Law School (KLS) organized a panel discussion on important issues relating to human rights to mark the Human Rights Day on 10th December 2021. Inaugurating the programme, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavani Prasad Panda, Director, KLS addressed the issues of global peace and human rights protection.

There were six panelists for the session, viz., Dr. Sanghamitra Pattanaik, Ms. Mitul Dutta, Mr. Anirudh Choudhury, Mr. Prateek Mishra, Ms. Madhuri Meelee and Dr. Yugal Kishore. The program was moderated by Ms Jinia Kundu, while Ms Sushree Saswati Dash and Mr Jyotiprakash Mohanty were the rapporteurs.

Dr. Pattanaik opened the discussion in response to the poser made by the moderator about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948.  On the issue of second generation of Human Rights, Ms. Dutta addressed the significance of civil and political rights. Mr. Choudhury explained the importance of ICESCR and the basic human rights in an international forum. Mr. Mishra focussed on the role played by the state to ensure the third generation of human rights.  Ms. Meelee touched upon the intricacies and necessity of fourth generation human rights with technological advancements across the globe. Dr. Kishore discussed sustainable development goals and the steps to achieve them through international cooperation post Covid-19 pandemic.
