Workshop on “Career Strategies”
Student Counseling Cell along with CAAS, KIIT organized a virtual session on “Career Strategies” on 24th July 2021. Students and faculty members from all the Schools of KIIT-DU participated in large numbers at the workshop. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Kaumudi Goda, Singapore.
Introducing the speaker, Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counseling, KIIT-DU mentioned that organizing such workshops was in line with the practice followed by the Counseling Cell of KIIT in providing exposure to the students in domain areas that are relevant to them, by inviting international experts.
Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar welcomed the speaker and expressed his gratitude to her for addressing the students of KIIT. He spoke highly of the spectacular achievements of Ms. Goda. He also mentioned the Founder’s inspiration in driving student beneficial academic and non-academic programs in KIIT.
Ms. Kaumudi Goda started the session with a very powerful exercise aimed at exploring one’s interests. She spoke of the Japanese philosophy Ikigai that talks about the perfect spot of happiness, joy, motivation and power. The session was taken forward with interesting concepts such as circle of influence, sense of self-worth, realising things which are in our control, going with Plan B besides Plan A, and career planning and how to project self.
At the end of her presentation, she thanked Dr. Priyabadini for inviting her for being a part of KIIT forum and expressed her happiness in seeing active participation and interaction by such a large number of students.
The students actively participated in the training exercises and posed a number of questions which were addressed by Ms. Goda. Faculty members and students requested her to revisit KIIT for another such session. Prof. A. K. Sar, Prof. Kajal Parashar, Dr. Binita Behera and other faculty members were present.
Ms. Kaumudi Goda is a Consultant and Coach at the “Human Conversation” and Board Member and D&I Director at Data Visualization Society, Singapore. She is an award-winning public speaker, executive coach, trainer, and facilitator. She functions as the Co-Chair for “Key Note,” a non-profit organization focused on bringing diversity to speaking stages across the world. She is also the Chief Operating Officer for Meta Mind Training, a learning and development consulting company based in Singapore.
Prof. Somresh Mishra complimented Ms. Goda on her diverse achievements. Proposing the vote of thanks, Dr. Priyadarshi Biswal, Dean CAAS said, the topic holds relevance at this critical juncture, especially in the context of the pandemic. Ms. Goda with her inspiring presentation laced with anecdotes, highlighted the essence of spreading the movement of positivity for an inclusive future and individual growth which could be realized through collective intelligence and reverse engineering, integrating one’s family and friends. The enthusiastic participation of students made the session wonderful, he said. On behalf of KIIT, he conveyed heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Goda for her address and requested her for conducting more such sessions for the students on a larger platform.
