Online Academic Audit (2020-21) Held at KIIT School of Management
KIIT School of Management (KSOM) conducted the Academic Audit 2021 on 24th July, 2021, in the presence of Prof. Arabinda Tripathy, Retired Professor from IIM-A & IIT-K and Prof. U. B. Mohapatra, VC, Rajendra University, Balangir, as the Guests of Honour and Auditors.
The session was introduced by Prof. S. K. Mohapatra, Director, KSOM; while Prof. A. K. Sar, Convenor, Board of Studies, and Area Chairperson, MBA, KSOM carried it forward by highlighting and elaborating on the Curriculum Design and Development; Teaching and Learning Process; Research, Sponsored Projects, Consultancy; and, Faculty Development Programmes, meticulously engaged in by the robust and erudite Teaching Fraternity of KSOM.
Prof. Sar further enumerated the Distinctive Aspects of the School, like Admissions, Online Teaching and Learning, the flagship research program of KSOM- the Ph.D. programme, the intensive and exhaustive research and publication by the faculty, student development through curricular and co-curricular activities, placement and its related training, and Institutional social responsibilities, strongly inspired, propagated, and encouraged, by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS.
Prof. Sar followed this up with a demonstration of one of his (recorded) online teaching sessions with students of 2nd Year, MBA, and through it emphasizing on the intended learning outcomes of an online session.
His presentation was followed by Prof. Kumar Mohanty, Director, Corporate Relations, who threw light on the impressive placement record at KSOM in the last year, untouched by the ill effects of the raging global pandemic. Although there has been a dent in the number of companies coming in for placement due to the pandemic, students have still performed well and got placed in reputed companies, he added. Prof. Mohanty’s elaboration on placement and training was emphasized by the Auditors’ interaction with two members of KSOM alumni, Huma Jamal and Amrita Ghosh, remarkably placed in the industry by KSOM, present at the meeting.
An interactive session between the Auditors and the faculty followed next, wherein, the former was informed about the professor-student ratio in a classroom; and recruitment, and thereby, adding to the existing faculty group; the elaborate orientation program of newly recruited faculty members. Prof. Tripathy also expressed his wish that KSOM develop a culture of collaborative teaching, based on mutual understanding and in-depth knowledge of the subject and topic at hand.
The highly engaging and interactive session ended with a closing address by the Auditors, Prof. Mohapatra and Prof. Tripathy, applauding the efforts of KSOM as a whole in the last academic session. Prof. Sar offered his vote of thanks to everyone present.
