KIIT School of Liberal Studies Organizes Interactive Session on ‘Psychology: Then, Now, and Next’

The School of Liberal Studies, KIIT Deemed to be University, organized an insightful interactive session titled ‘Psychology: Then, Now, and Next’ with eminent educator, psychologist, and author Prof. Girishwar Misra on December 10, 2024. Organized by the Department of Psychology, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments.

In his address, Prof. Misra, renowned for his groundbreaking work in cultural and indigenous psychology, captivated the audience with his profound insights into the evolution of psychology. He traced its journey from early philosophical inquiries about the human mind and the roots of psychological thought in Indian philosophy to its emergence as a scientific discipline. Reflecting on the present, he discussed the transformative influences of globalization, technology, biological inquiries into the brain and body, and interdisciplinary approaches in shaping contemporary psychological practice and research. The highlight of the session was his vision for the future, which emphasized the need to hone creativity and focus on creating reality rather than merely observing it.

Prof. Misra’s engaging narrative resonated with both students and faculty, sparking vibrant discussions on how psychology can adapt to address emerging challenges such as mental health crises, AI integration, and global interconnectedness. Dr. Shradha Mathur, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, also spoke on the occasion.
