KIIT School of Languages Organizes Lecture on ‘The Making of An- Ism out of Existence: Philosophical and Theatrical Manifestations’

School of Languages, KIIT Deemed to be University organized a Virtual Lecture on ‘The Making of An- Ism out of Existence: Philosophical and Theatrical Manifestations’ on 13th April 2021.

The resource person for the lecture Dr. Asijit Datta, an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of English of the prestigious Heritage College, University of Calcutta spoke at great length about how existentialism tried to debunk the so called “truths” concerning reason and rationality. Citing the example of the Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus, and Jean Paul Sartre’s existence precedes essence, the philosophy of Existentialism and Absurdity was explored at a great length. The lecture was followed by a discussion session that included questions probing into the matrix of this discourse.

Coordinated by Prof. Debanjali Roy, Assistant Professor, School of Languages, the event was anchored by Ranjita Majumdar and D. Subhasmita, students of M.A. English. It was attended by students, scholars and academic professionals of not only KIIT-DU but academic institutions across the nation.

The event was also graced by Dr. Biswajit Das, Professor & Dean, School of Languages, Dr. Sahel Md. Delabul Hossain, Academic Coordinator, School of Languages and other faculty members of the School. It was an academically enriching experience for students and staff alike.
