Bridge Course in English Language commenced for French Speaking International students from Guinea & Somalia

French speaking International students from Guinea & Somalia experienced their introductory class of the English Language Bridge Course  on 14th November which was conducted by the Department of Language & Literature, School of Liberal Studies, KIIT-DU in association with the International Relations Office (IRO). The yearlong Bridge Course titled Comprehensive English Language Program for Overseas Students (CELPOS) is jointly managed by two faculty members, Dr. Nisha Tiwari, Assistant Professor (French) who is also the Programme Coordinator and Ms. Upasana Sarangi, Faculty Associate (English). Students of Guinea were excited to have support of the French faculty to address their academic related concerns and queries in their native language during their learning process.

CELPOS is a uniquely designed one–year language proficiency course of 360 hours duration which aims to equip the non-English speaking international students with comprehensive English language abilities. The course offers a balanced mix of informative lessons, interactive sessions, practical exercises, and continual assessments. Focused on four key areas—listening, reading, speaking, and writing—this program bridges language gaps and enhances student’s participation in academic activities and group projects.

The programme CELPOS aims to equip students with comprehensive English language skills which will be essential for their academic as well as professional enhancement, and to ensure active participation and performance enhancement in their respective degree programmes. It is meticulously crafted in accordance with the CEFR standards following the legacy of Cambridge language learning, ensuring B1 level language acquisition.

The Department of Language & Literature, KIIT-DU offers Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Programme in French, German, Spanish and Japanese in addition to the Certificate courses in leading foreign & Indian languages.
