Director (R&D), KIIT, Delivers a Talk and Interacts with Nobel Laureate Prof. Barry Marshall at the 2026 Shenzhen International Summit, China
Prof. Gopal C. Kundu, Director (R&D), KIIT-DU, delivered an invited talk at the 2026 Shenzhen International Summit on Future Medicine (SZFM-2026), held at Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China, from March 20 to 22, 2026.
His presentation, titled “Understanding Tumor Heterogeneity and the Development of Targeted Therapy in Breast Cancer,” was highly appreciated by an eminent global audience and other distinguished delegates.
Hosted by the Shenzhen University Medical School, the summit focused on interdisciplinary innovation under the central theme of “Healthy Aging” and was co-hosted by several leading organizations, including the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM), Sweden; the Shenzhen Society for Cell Biology; and major affiliated hospitals and laboratories in and around Shenzhen, China.
The event addressed two key challenges associated with an aging global population through its core themes: “AI for Healthy Aging,” which explored intelligent solutions for elderly care, and “Chronic Disease Challenges in Aging Populations,” focusing on neurological and oncological disorders.
During the summit, Prof. Kundu also participated in an interaction meeting with Prof. Barry Marshall, Nobel Laureate, who holds positions at the University of Western Australia, Australia, and Shenzhen University, China. Prof. Kundu extended an invitation to Prof. Marshall to visit KIIT-DU, which was tentatively accepted in principle. Further discussions initiated by Prof. Kundu emphasized strengthening academic and research ties between KIIT University, India, and Shenzhen University, China, including student and faculty exchange programmes and advanced joint research initiatives, with plans to formalize the collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future.
Shenzhen University, established in 1983 and funded by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, is a leading public research institution that has grown in tandem with the city’s emergence as a global technology hub.
