Student Members of Khwaab Society, KSAC observed the National Day of Girl Child and International Day of Education on 24th January 2021 in different parts of the country and Sri Lanka under the banner of ‘Kanya Kiran’, a campaign for promoting zero tolerance against sexual violence under the leadership of Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS.

The students stressed upon the need for girls’ education so that they remain well informed about the society, their rights, nutrition and healthcare and be able to compete in the market and adapt well to the changing world. It is not only about going to school but to be empowered enough to defend themselves. In Sri Lanka, the students taught the girls few self-defense strategies and motivated them to be confident and strong while facing the world.

The students distributed notebooks, books, pen, pencil and other stationery items to the underprivileged children. They even distributed gifts, snacks and spent time with them. Many taught the underprivileged children staying near their houses during this pandemic on a daily basis.

Sensitizing the young minds on the need for education of girl children could be a driving force in accomplishing our goals and the entire student members and KSAC are grateful to Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta for starting the campaign “Kanya Kiran” to achieve the same. Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director, KSAC thanked all the members of Khwaab Society for observing this day and passing on the right message on a right day.
