KIIT Alumni Association Organizes 3rd Episode of Alumni Webinar Series

The 3rd episode of Alumni Webinar Series was organized by KIIT Alumni Association on 22nd August 2021. Interacting with students, Mr. Prasad Routray, class of 1995 from KIIT School of Management, spoke on Solving the Needs of “BHARAT” – A Fintech and Telco Insight and Opportunity. Mr. Routray, who is currently heading Corporate and Alliances in Airtel Payments Bank, has over 25 years of experience in different positions in Bharti Airtel.

Mr. Prasad briefed students about the present scenario of Telco and Financial services in India as well the scope of entrepreneurs in carrying forward the Fintech services to rural India. He also spoke about the 5G Roadmap in Bharat and highlighted the concept of inclusive banking segment in the telecom segment. He emphasized the need of creating simplified products which should talk the language of the common man creating a local language ecosystem and would relate to the local community. Mr. Routray spoke briefly about Airtel’s collaboration with Tata Group for “Made in India 5G”. There was an extensive student interaction which even led to few innovative ideas popping up.

The webinar was moderated by Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director, Student Services. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Behura said that telecom banks like Airtel have all the ingredients to become game changers and enablers of high quality financial services. This would lead to the creation of fintech products that offer high levels of versatility and convenience. Prof. S. K. Mahapatra, Director, School of Management, Prof. V. Venkatakrishnan, Dean School of Rural Management, Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Director, Quality Assurance Cell and Prof. Samaresh Mishra, Director, Student Affairs also joined and shared their views.
