KIIT Animal and Environmental Welfare Society, KSAC works tirelessly to make a difference and to keep the environment safe for us as well as for our furry friends! The society believes in the motto “Let’s change ourselves, not them”.

This year, in a bid to do something more, a novel “Glow Drive” initiative was launched by the Society to protect stray animals from being hit and run over in the night. With the number of animal accidents rising each year, it is important to ensure the safety of our voiceless friends, said Mr. Sarthak Panigrahi, Coordinator, KIIT Animal and Environmental Welfare Society. Reflective collars were their solution to save animals from accidents. Reflective collars would allow them to be seen even at night, and the members believe it would bring down the number of road accidents involving stray animals significantly. To start with the initiative, reflective collars were tied around the neck of stray animals on KIIT Road. Subsequently, animals from KIIT Square to Nandankanan would also be covered.

Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director, Student Services, KIIT appreciated the efforts of the members of the society and thanked Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for instilling humanism, compassion and the spirit of ‘Art of Giving’ in all students and staff of KIIT and KISS.
