Workshop on ‘Cyber Security for Women’ at KISS-DU
A workshop on ‘Cyber Security for Women’ was conducted by the Red Dot Foundation in association with KISS-DU and BCKIC-KIIT-TBI Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) on 30th March 2022. The workshop was supported by the US Embassy, India, and US Consulate General, Hyderabad.
The safety of women is a global and local concern. The gender-based sexual harassment in the digital world has increased due to the rampant use of the internet. The workshop was curated for the age group 18 to 21 and 35 girls pursuing Masters (Arts, Science, and Commerce) at KISS-DU attended. The team members of the Counselling Cell of KISS and KIIT along with Deputy Director, Counselling, Ms. Rajalaxmi Panda participated in the event, which was coordinated and facilitated by Ms. Sanghamitra Ray, Deputy Director, Projects. Mr. Prasant Singh, CEO of BCKIC-KIIT-TBI explained the objectives of the workshop and introduced the resource person Ms. Baivavi Rani Maske, a Cyber Expert from Red Dot Foundation.
The participants were introduced to various terminologies: cyber bullying, hacking, cloning, data theft, digital frauds, in addition to popular platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and the like. They were introduced to case studies to help them delve deeper into the gravity of the matter. Furthermore, they were sensitized in the domain of privacy and security of data. The key highlights of the workshop were that the participants were encouraged to further sensitize and disseminate the acquired information and learnings from the workshop to their peers and submit a report of the same.
Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU interacted with the participants, trainers and applauded the commendable work undertaken by the Red Dot Foundation. Ms. Sanghmitra Ray proposed a vote of thanks on behalf of KISS.
