National Space Day 2026 Celebrated at KISS-DU
The Department of Geography, School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), KISS Deemed to be University, successfully organised the 3rd National Space Day Celebration 2026 on 23rd August 2026, in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Indigenous Peoples across the Globe and Internal Quality Assurance Cell, KISS-DU.
The celebration was organised in line with the theme of India’s National Space Day 2026 – “Towards Viksit Bharat: Innovating, Collaborating and Aspiring to Global Space Leadership.”
The programme commenced with the welcome of the distinguished guest and ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the Welcome Address by Dr. Snigdharani Panda, Joint Registrar and Chairperson, Council of Deans, KISS-DU. The guest was felicitated, followed by the Introduction of the Guest by Dr. Arpana Premi Lina Oraon, Dean, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU. A special expert lecture on “The Architecture of Impact: Leveraging Geospatial Computing and Spatial Big Data to Achieve Sustainable Development Goal#4” was delivered by Dr. Rabindra Kumar Barik, KIIT-DU, followed by an engaging Question-and-Answer Session. In his deliberation, Dr. Barik talked about Dynamic Serverless Computing Architecture and cited an example of John Snow’s Cholera Map. The celebration was further enriched by a melodious song presentation by the students of the Geography Department, adding enthusiasm and vibrancy to the occasion.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Monalisha Mishra, HoD, Department of Geography, STRM, KISS-DU, who also proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, students and everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the celebration.
The event served as an inspiring platform to celebrate India’s remarkable journey in space exploration and to highlight the importance of innovation, collaboration and geospatial technologies in shaping a Viksit Bharat and India’s global leadership in space.
