The KISS-DU family is deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Professor P.C Joshi on 20th June 2025, a distinguished Anthropologist, and an active member of the Executive Council of KISS Deemed to be University. He was a beacon of wisdom, empathy, compassion, and vision in Indian academia.
During his long-standing tenure, as an esteemed member of the Executive Council of KISS Deemed to be University, Professor Joshi made significant contributions in framing the roadmap of the University, under the leadership of its visionary Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta. His vital inputs, ideas and suggestions helped KISS-DU attain ‘A’ Grade in NAAC in its first cycle of accreditation. His foresight corresponding to research, and development helped the University in reaching the pinnacle of success in its academic endeavors. A noteworthy testament towards these initiatives included inking an MoU with the Department of Anthropology, University of Delhi.
As a member of the Executive Council, he had played a seminal role in shaping important decisions in the University including the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and organization of the prestigious World Anthropology Congress (WAC) 2023. His legacy is woven into the fabric of KISS-DU’ journey. A former Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi and a steadfast pillar of the United Indian Anthropology Forum (UIAF), Professor Joshi’s scholarly contributions extended across fields – from Medical Anthropology and visual culture to tribal welfare and environmental justice. Professor Joshi touched countless lives as a teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend.
Crestfallen upon receiving the news of the sad demise of Professor P.C Joshi, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KISS, KIIT and KIMS offered deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. “May God give them strength during this time of grief. He will be fondly remembered for his contributions to the University”, he said.
