KISS-DU Pays Tribute to Professor Jugal Kishor Mishra
The KISS-DU fraternity expresses its profound grief at the sad demise of Professor Jugal Kishor Mishra on 21st September 2026. A distinguished Professor of Political Science and Advisor to the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Professor Mishra was also an esteemed member of the Executive Council of KISS Deemed to be University. His invaluable contributions to academic excellence, governance, and institutional development will be remembered with reverence for years to come.
Deeply saddened upon receiving the tragic news, Professor Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KISS, KIIT and KIMS, offered deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
A Condolence Meeting was solemnly convened at KISS Deemed to be University on 22nd September to commemorate the noble deeds of Professor Mishra.On this occasion, members of both the teaching and non-teaching staff assembled to pay their heartfelt homage. Colleagues shared their reflections, personal experiences, and cherished memories of working alongside Professor Mishra, highlighting his invaluable contributions and enduring impact on the academic community. The meeting served as a collective expression of respect, gratitude, and remembrance for a distinguished educator whose legacy continues to inspire.
During his long service, Professor Mishra touched and transformed many lives, especially students’. In addition to serving as the Chair Professor, Biju Patnaik Research Chair, and Madhusudan Das Research Chair at KISS-DU, he played a seminal role in establishing the University’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell. Professor Mishra’s contributions were instrumental in KISS-DU securing an ‘A’ Grade in its very first cycle of accreditation and assessment by NAAC — a distinction that stands as a testament to his vision, dedication, and academic leadership. His pioneering role in shaping important decisions ranging from – implementation of National Education Policy (NEP 2020) at KISS-DU, organization of the 62nd All India Political Science Conference and International Seminar, implementation of quality measures in academics and administration, and framing institutional policies and strategies. His legacy is deeply woven in the fabric of KISS Deemed to be University.
Prior to joining KISS-DU in 2019, Professor Mishra served as Professor of Political Science in Gangadhar Meher University, Khallikote University, Berhampur University and Ravenshaw University. He served as a steadfast pillar of the Indian Political Science Association (IPSA) and the Odisha Political Science Association (OPSA), holding the office of President at different junctures in his distinguished career.
