KISS-DU Organizes Talk on Industry Academia Collaboration
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KISS-DU with BOSHC India Foundation jointly organized a talk on ‘Industry Academia Collaboration’ on 2nd March 2022. Dr. OP Goel, Head-Bosch India Foundation CSR & Skill Development was the distinguished invited speaker on the occasion.
In his Welcome Address, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU said that from the NAAC perspective, there is a dire need for industry and academia to collaborate. He suggested that the students and trainers should be trained through various capacity building exercises. Professor Behera added that this is the only means for preparing industry-ready professionals. He concluded his address by seeking cooperation of Bosch India Foundation in developing the curriculum.
Dr. Pragyan Mohanty, Deputy Director, Resource Generation, KIIT & KISS said that Dr. O. P. Goel is an experienced CSR Leader with demonstrated success in conceptualizing and implementing high impact, National award-winning programmes, specialize in skill development linked to employment. She added that he is a strong believer that with industry, academia, NGOs and Govt.’s active collaboration, unemployment can be eliminated from India.
In his address, Dr. O. P. Goel expressed pleasure over the initiative for an Industry Academia Collaboration between both the organizations. He shared some of the key initiatives and activities of Bosch across the globe. Moving to the benefits of such collaborations, he highlighted that the collaboration can help a great deal in skilling the youth and enable them to make their fortune. Dr. Goel laid emphasis on curriculum-based teaching and beyond. He suggested incorporating the programmes keeping in mind the needs of the industries so that after graduating from this university the students can get employment in the corporate. Dr. Goel concluded by stressing on capacity building of MSME programmes and suggested jointly introducing Educational Entrepreneurship Programmes.
Responding to the deliberation of the distinguished speaker, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS-DU, shared the vision and mission of the University and of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KIIT with respect to creating a better tomorrow through employment generation. He touched upon the key focus areas; i.e., sustainable development; livelihood; self-reliance, and self-sustenance. He further highlighted the commendable activities undertaken by seven innovative schools of KISS-DU, with emphasis on School of Tribal Resource Management.
Mr. Bharadwaj Mishra, Director, Resource Generation, KISS & KIIT appreciated the initiatives and activities of Bosch and expressed the need for working collectively and collaboratively in the days to come. Professor Jugal Kishore Mishra, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KISS-DU emphasized on Skill Development and demographic dividend by skilling students. During the interaction session, Dr. Snigdharani Panda, Dean, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU sought suggestions from the team of Bosch India Foundation to revise the syllabus, ensuring the inclusion of subjects keeping in view the needs of the industry.
