KISS-DU Organizes Distinguished Invited Lecture on “New Criminal Law: A Critique”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KISS-DU organized a Distinguished Invited Lecture on “New Criminal Law: A Critique” on 27th July 2024. Dr. Satyajit Mohanty, IPS (Retd.), Adjunct Professor of Law, National Law University of Odisha was invited as the speaker. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Satyajit Mohanty highlighted some of the major reforms in the law; inclusion of new Acts; process involved in filing FIR; use of technology in digitizing everything; basis of gathering evidence; and the challenges involved in implementing certain laws. He shed light on the rights of the victim and how he/she can file a report based on the new laws. Dr. Mohanty cited examples from real life in order to provide deep insights on the topic.

Speaking earlier, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU appreciated the appropriateness of the topic chosen by the erudite speaker and he also highlighted some of the milestones achieved by the University and innovative practices adopted in the recent years like Tribal Advisory Council, Professors of Practice and Professors Emeriti. The deliberation was followed by a stimulating question and answer session. Dr. Disha Bhatt, Assistant Professor and Dy. Director, IQAC, KISS-DU proposed a formal Vote of Thanks.
