Dr.Ambedkar Chair,KISS-DU Organizes an Awareness Programme on “Academic Feats of Babasaheb Dr.B.R.Ambedkar”
Dr. Ambedkar Chair, KISS-DU (Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India) organised an awareness programme on “Academic Feats of Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar” on 30th July 2024. This event was organised in association with the IQAC, KISS-DU.
The distinguished speakers – Professor Mihir Sethi, Expert in Dalit Studies; Professor Siba Prasad Adhikary, Professor Emeritus, KISS-DU and Ms. Manisha Laguri, Ph.D. Research Scholar, KISS-DU, delivered speeches with the objective of sensitizing research scholars and students regarding the struggle of Dr. Ambedkar.
This awareness programme was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Professor Emeriti, Deans, Directors, Faculties, Research Scholars and PG students of KISS-DU. Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU, in his Introductory Speech highlighted the activities of Ambedkar Chair at KISS-DU with the idea of researching on the life and works of Dr. Ambedkar. He also focussed on how education plays a seminal role in development multiplier. Dr. Satyaki Pal, Assistant Professor, Dr. Ambedkar Chair, KISS-DU introduced the speakers. Ms. Manisha Laguri gave a brief life history of Dr. Ambedkar and how he paved the way for Indian education accessible for all masses and classes.
Speaking on “Promoting academic Standards”, Professor Siba Prasad Adhikary gave a compelling speech about the extraordinary life and achievements of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He highlighted how Dr. Ambedkar’s accomplishments during his time were truly unparalleled. Dr. Ambedkar not only attained a Ph.D. but also dared to stand up to prominent figures like Mahatma Gandhi. Speaking in turn, Professor Mihir Sethi shed new light on the often-overlooked Poona Pact between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in 1932. Professor Sethi incorporated insights from the works of Professor Upendra Baxi to enrich his analysis on the contributions of Dr. Ambedkar. The formal vote of thanks was proposed by the Director, IQAC, KISS-DU, Professor Jugal Kishore Mishra which marked the closure of the awareness programme.
To conclude, the awareness programme carried by Dr. Ambedkar Chair on “Academic Feats of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar” ignited a spark of inspiration among KISS Deemed to be University’s Research Scholars and students. Moreover, empowered by his legacy and visions, they are now more determined than ever to excel in their academic pursuits to become a part of Viksit Bharat @2047.
