The Nano Innovation Laboratory, School of Indigenous Knowledge, Science and Technology (IKST), KISS-DU, organized a four-day lecture series on ‘Prospects of Nanomaterials’ from 15th to 18th March 2022.

Inaugurating the lecture series, Prof. Asoka Kumar Das, Vice-Chairman, Odisha Higher Education Council, Govt. of Odisha stressed the need to combine indigenous knowledge with nanotechnology. He reminded the audience that nanotechnology existed in nature all along and is nothing new. However, the understanding of nanostructured material is relatively recent and made possible by the introduction of advanced tools that are capable of resolving information at the nanoscale, Prof. Das added.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S.K.S. Parashar, Associate Professor, KIIT-DU, discussed several exciting new developments in the defense sector, achieved by nanotechnology. He also shared his research ideas that could be explored further at KISS. Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU, in his welcome address, shared the genesis of the Nano Innovation Laboratory at KISS-DU. The Lab has acted as a bridge in connecting scientists all over the world, he said, while thanking Dr. Bikram Kesari Das and the team for organizing the lecture series.

The invited speakers Dr. Ashish Kumar Jena, Assistant Professor, North Orissa University; Dr. Ram Naresh Mahaling, Associate Professor, School of Chemistry, Sambalpur University; Dr. Harekrushna Sahoo, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, NIT Rourkela; Dr. Amaresh Mishra, Associate Professor, School of Chemistry, Sambalpur University; Dr. Monalisa Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of Life Science, NIT Rourkela; Professor Shiva Prasad Adhikary, Professor Emeritus, KISS-DU; and Dr. Yasobanta Das, Dean, School of IKST presented their remarks on the inaugural day of the lecture series
