World Mental Health Day: KINS Organizes National e-Seminar
Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) conducted a National e-Seminar on the theme ‘Mental Health for All; Everyone, Everywhere’ via Google Meet on 10th October 2020. Delivering keynote address on the occasion, Dr. R. C. Dash, Vice Principal, KIMS & HoD, Dept. of Psychiatry highlighted the concept of mental health and emphasized on the role of psychiatric nurses.
Dr. Arunjyoti Baruah, Professor & HOD, Psychiatry Nursing, LGBRIMH, Tezpur spoke on ‘Changing Perspectives of Mental Health Nursing’ at the first technical session. He lucidly described the Psychiatric Nursing Practices Act, mental health policies, and standards of practice and research areas in mental health nursing. The second session was taken by Prof. Vithoba Narayan Mhalkar on ‘Mental Resilience for Nurses’. Prof. Mhalkar explained about stress perpetuating due to COVID-19 pandemic and skills needed to mitigate it. He elaborated on resilience along with models and suggested strategies to develop resilience through examples.
Earlier, Prof. Mrs. Amarita Lenka, Principal, KINS welcomed the speakers and participants, while congratulating the organizing team for their untiring effort. More than100 participants from different parts of the country joined the e-Seminar and made it a successful one. The meet concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Truptimayee Das.
