Training Programme for Nurses on “Adverse Drug Reaction Detection and Reporting”

Pharmacovigilance, also known as drug safety, focuses on adverse drug reaction, or ADRs. The Department of Pharmacology, KIMS has been successfully functioning as one of the ADR Monitoring Centre (AMC) under Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI) since September 2015. Every year on a regular basis KIMS conducts training programmes with a good involvement of participants. As many as 65 nurses attended a training programme for Nurses conducted by the Department of Pharmacology on 9th August 2022. The session trained them on detection, reporting systems of adverse drug reactions and filling the ADR reporting form. Dr. Ratikanta Tripathy, Associate Prof., Pharmacology & Dy. Coordinator, ADR Monitoring Centre, KIMS was the resource person. This training session helped the nurses understand the necessity of ADR reporting for drug safety.
