KINS Organizes National e-Seminar

A two-day National e-Seminar on the theme ‘Contemporary Issues in Community Health Nursing’ was organized by the Department of Community Health Nursing, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences, KIIT-DU on 27th August 2020.

At the first session, Dr. T. Vasundhara Tulasi, Principal, Apollo College of Nursing deliberated on “Work Place Safety Issues at Peripheral Level”. She addressed issues related to community health nursing and explained how one problem leads another and so on. She depicted the actual case scenario of workplace safety. The second session was taken by Mrs. Soumya Sonalika, Asst. Professor, KINS, on ‘Contemporary Issues on Behavioural Health’. She explained the concept of behavioral health, its significance and integration with holistic patient centered care.

The last session was taken by Mrs. Shyma Devi, Assistant Professor, AIIMS CON, Bhubaneswar on ‘Gender Based Violence in Health Care Setting’. She discussed gender based violence faced by Health Care Professionals at their work place. She also suggested preventive measures to be taken to avoid gender discrimination and violence. 

Earlier, the seminar started with the welcome address by Prof. (Mrs.) Amarita Lenka, Principal, (KINS). She welcomed participants as well as speakers and spoke on the relevance of the theme. Prof. (Ms.) Pramoda Kumari Nayak, Principal, SON in her keynote address highlighted the significance of the selected topics and emphasized on the diverse actions that nurses perform at community level.

All the sessions were interesting, informative and relevant to the present scenario. The sessions of the first day concluded with thanks to the speakers and participants. The seminar will be conducted for two days. On the first day more than 200 participants from various Nursing School/Colleges of India joined via Google Meet.
