Now the burning issues of waste management has drawn the attention of administrative functionaries at different levels World over. On line with the same socio-economic issues the 9th International Conference on Sustainable Waste Management towards Circular Economy was organized by International Society of Waste Management in association with Jadavpur University, Kolkata. KIIT Deemed to be University was the co-organizer of this conference which was held in Campus-6 Auditorium from 27th to 29th November 2019.
There were many deliberations on the specific issues of waste management like collection, segregation, processing, composting and transport of the waste generated in various spheres of human life. Waste to Money, that is generation of revenue sources from waste was the epicentre of all discussions for the circular economic growth.

Faculties of Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences whole heartedly participated in the conference. Faculties from the College of Nursing presented four Oral prapers by Prof. Mrs. Niyati Das, Mrs. Nibedita Mohanty, Mrs. Kulumina Dash and Mrs Minati Das, Mrs. Soumya Sonalika, Mrs. Trupti Rekha Swain and Mr. Chandan Pradhan, and two Poster presentations by Mr. Asokan.R, Ms. Purnima Sahoo & Mrs. S.Bhaktiswarupa on aspects of Community & Bio-medical waste management in and around Bhubaneswar.

In valedictory session Founder of KIIT & KISS University Dr. Achyuta Samanta was awarded the lifetime achievement award for his contribution towards waste management in KISS University and Pro-VC Prof. Sasmita Samanta received the leadership award for her role in conference organization. The conference was very fruitful to give insight regarding the best waste management practices.
