E-Seminar on Teaching Methods at KINS

Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), KIIT-DU organized a three-day e-seminar on “Teaching Methods, A.V. Aids & Application of Nursing Theories” on 18th January 2021. The 2nd year postgraduate students were encouraged to be the presenters to motivate them and augment their confidence.

Shedding light on the theme, Mrs. Amarita Lenka emphasized on putting theory into practice in both nursing education and patient care. Mr. Dilip Ku. Dash, 2nd year M.Sc (N) student, started the session on ‘Programmed Instructions’. He covered the entire gamut of the subject starting from definition, principles, types, scope to advantages and disadvantages. It enables students to learn at their own pace, he stated. The second session was taken by Ms. Smruti Pragyan Sahoo on ‘Concept Mapping and Fish Bowl Method’ as two of the important methods of teaching. She cited various suitable examples to elaborate every aspect of the two methods.

The 3rd session was taken by Ms. Madhusmita Panda on ‘e-Learning Methods’. She explained e-study, video / audio tapes, computer and web-based teaching strategies, etc along with their advantages and disadvantages. The final session on ‘Problem based learning’ was taken by Ms. Minu Rani Mahto. She described how it helps to acquire necessary learning and problem solving skills and be a better learner.

Each session was followed by question-answer and discussion. The first day of the e-seminar was attended by around 120 M.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Nursing 2nd year students and faculty members of KINS.
