World Pharmacist’s Day was celebrated in KIMS, Bhubaneswar on 25th September 2024. The day is celebrated annually across the world to appreciate the role of pharmacists in the healthcare delivery system.
The theme of this year was “Pharmacists meeting global health needs”. Pharmacists play a vital role in compounding and dispensing the drugs. They also help in wound management and in preparing and administering drugs in operation theaters and many other important areas of the healthcare system.
The day began with pharmacists of the KIMS and the students and faculties of KIIT School of Pharmacy organizing a walkathon in the morning. Later they gathered in the KIMS Auditorium in the evening to celebrate this occasion. Drug Controller of Odisha, Ms. Mamina Pattnaik attended as chief guest and addressed the gathering.
Among other dignitaries – Director Allied Medical Sciences, Prof. Prafulla Mohapatra; Dean & Principal KIMS, Brigadier Prof. A P Mohanty; Medical Superintendent, KIMS, AVM Prof. R C Das; Principal, KIIT School of Pharmacy, Prof. Unna Laxmi Narayan and Advisor to Founder KIIT, KISS & KIMS, Dr. R. N. Samanta addressed the pharmacists and appreciated their role in smooth patient care delivery at KIMS.
The inaugural function was followed by the cultural events organized by the staff and the students.
