World Immunization Day Observed at UHTC, Niladri Vihar by KIMS
The Department of Community Medicine of KIMS observed the World Immunization Day on 10th November 2021 at the Urban Health and Training Centre, Niladri Vihar. The World Immunization Day is celebrated on 10th November every year to highlight vaccination as a low-tech, cost effective, high impact solution for preventing illness and disease in individuals of all ages. This day is celebrated to make people aware about the importance of getting timely vaccinations against vaccine preventable diseases.
The programme was initiated with the lighting of lamps by Brig. Prof. (Dr.) Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Principal, KIMS followed by Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar. The Ganesh Vandana was sung by Dr. Smriti Madhusikta. The Programme continued with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Krishna Mishra (In-Charge of UHTC), followed by addressing the beneficiaries by awareness talk on immunization with interaction by the Principal and other faculties. There was mask distribution among the attendees from the community. This was followed by a rally to all the slums under the UHTC by the interns, faculty members and staff.
A poster competition was organised among the interns posted in the Department of Community Medicine which was judged by Dr. Manas from KSPH. All participants were given certificates and outstanding posters were awarded. An orientation session was also conducted by Dr. Alpana Mishra (Supervisor, UHTC) among 3rd Professional MBBS students to re-emphasize the role of doctors for reducing the GAPs in immunization.
