Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Majhi, well-known Cardiac Anaesthesiologist and Critical Care Specialist with nearly 28 years of experience has joined KIMS as the Joint Director in KIMS Cancer Center(Super Specialty). He is renowned for his expertise in Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), Heart Transplants, and Lung Transplants, holding the record for the highest number of transplant cases in Northern India. His contributions to robotic lung surgery and paediatric cardiac surgery over the past two decades have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the field.

Dr. Majhi was previously serving as the Senior Director and Head of Cardiac Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, where he led a dedicated team of 15 anaesthesiologists and heads the hospital’s ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) program from the anaesthesia department.

Dr. Majhi has been instrumental in establishing cardiac surgical programs at Government Medical College, Guwahati, as well as at hospitals in Babylon, Iraq. His efforts have ensured the success and growth of these programs, with continued support for two consecutive years. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Majhi is a passionate educator and mentor.

Over the past 12 years, he has trained and guided DNB (Cardiac Anaesthesia) students, contributing to the development of future medical professionals. He has organized multiple Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) workshops at Max Hospital, Saket, providing invaluable hands-on experience to aspiring anaesthesiologists.

A regular speaker at national and international conferences, Dr. Majhi frequently addresses topics related to heart and lung transplants and LVAD procedures. His research and presentations cover critical areas such as the assessment of right ventricular function in LVAD patients, ECMO management, and pulmonary complications post-lung transplant. His participation in Mitralclip workshops in Hyderabad further highlights his dedication to staying at the forefront of advancements in cardiac care.

Dr. Majhi earned his MD in Anaesthesiology from Veer Surendra Sai Medical College, Burla, in 1997, having previously completed his MBBS from the same institution in 1990. His academic journey began at Rajkumar College, Raipur, where he completed his ICSE in 1982, followed by Intermediate Science at GM College, Sambalpur, in 1984.

Throughout his career, Dr. Majhi has accumulated extensive experience at some of India’s most prestigious medical institutions. He has held positions at Fortis Hospital, Mohali; Hero DMC Heart Institute, Ludhiana; Escorts Hospital, New Delhi; GB Pant Hospital, New Delhi; Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi; and The Calcutta Medical Research Institute.
