A Welcome Ceremony was organized for 2020 Batch MBBS & BDS students of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) on 19th February 2021. Gracing the occasion, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said, “At a time when India is planning to start multi-disciplinary universities, KIIT is already ahead of the time. Quality education along with good leadership is the need of the hour, he added. He welcomed the students with an assurance of a student-friendly environment.

In his address, Prof. Hrusikesh Mohanty, VC, KIIT-DU focussed on staying updated with the developments in the field of study and also ancillary studies. Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-VC described the new education policy as an indication that students have to develop not only their textual knowledge, but also skills and aptitude. Medical students should not restrict themselves, as the opportunities are vast now, she stated, while stressing on the need for research and trials by medical students. Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar briefed the newly-joined students about various facilities available at KIIT. Students should make maximum use of the central library, he added.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Maj. Gen. Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Patnaik, Principal, KIMS & DG, School of Medicine. A book written by Dr. Vatrika Srivastava, Asst. Prof., Pharmacology was released by Dr. Achyuta Samanta on this occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Balaji Manohar, Principal, KIDS.
