The PCOS Society India organizes PCOS Awareness Programme “VIJAYETA – Stand for Science, Stand for Her”
The PCOS Society India, in collaboration with KIMS & PBMH, Bhubaneswar, successfully organised “VIJAYETA – Stand for Science, Stand for Her,” a PCOS Awareness Programme, on 26th September 2026 at KIMS, Bhubaneswar, as part of the observance of September as PCOS Awareness Month.
The programme aimed to create awareness about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a common and complex condition that has implications not only for adolescent girls and women of reproductive age but also across the female lifespan, including the perimenopausal and menopausal years.
Dr. Lipika Moharana, representing The PCOS Society India, delivered an elaborate and informative session highlighting the evolving understanding of PCOS. She discussed the broader concept of PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome), emphasising that the condition should not be viewed merely as a disorder of the ovaries. Rather, it has important endocrine, metabolic, reproductive, dermatological and long-term health manifestations, requiring a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach.
The programme was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the gracious presence of AVM Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Das, Dean & Principal, KIMS; Dr. Manas Ranjan Behera, Medical Superintendent; Prof. (Dr.) Gangadhar Sahoo, Senior Gynaecologist; Prof. (Dr.) Pramila Jena, HOD, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology; Prof. (Dr.) Manasi Pattnaik; and Dr. N. Sagarika, Local Coordinator.
A major highlight of VIJAYETA was an engaging interactive multidisciplinary expert session, bringing together distinguished specialists from different fields to discuss the diverse manifestations and management of PCOS.
The expert panel included Prof. (Dr.) Manisha Sahoo and Prof. (Dr.) Jyochnamayi Panda from Gynaecology; Dr. Ritesh Agrawala from Endocrinology; Dr. Mousumi Acharya and Dr. Sanjeev Behera, Fertility Specialists; Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Pattnaik from Dermatology; Mrs. Monalisa Rout, Dietician; and Dr. Monaisa Rout, Physiotherapist.

Through this multidisciplinary interaction, the experts discussed the various dimensions of PCOS/PMOS, including its manifestations at different stages of a woman’s life, menstrual and reproductive concerns, endocrine and metabolic abnormalities, fertility issues, dermatological manifestations, nutrition, weight management, physical activity, lifestyle modification and the importance of individualised long-term care. The session highlighted that effective management of PCOS requires collaboration across specialties and a holistic approach extending beyond reproductive health alone.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 200 participants, including MBBS students, interns, nursing professionals and students from various other colleges. Their active participation and interaction with the expert panel made the programme both educational and engaging.
The occasion was further enriched by the presence of special guests and social activists representing organisations including Radiant Inner Wheel Club, Bhubaneswar, E5 Business Solutions and Lions Club. Their participation highlighted the importance of taking PCOS awareness beyond healthcare institutions and extending the message to families, educational institutions and the wider community.
VIJAYETA, held on 26 September 2026 at KIMS, Bhubaneswar, served as a meaningful platform to bring together healthcare professionals, students and members of society with a shared objective—to improve understanding of PCOS, encourage timely recognition and appropriate management, and promote a holistic approach to women’s health throughout the lifespan.
The programme reinforced a powerful message: “Stand for Science. Stand for Her.” Through awareness, education, evidence-based care and multidisciplinary collaboration, girls and women can be better empowered to clearly understand their health and seek timely and appropriate care.
