KIMS Student Seminar on Epidemiology Climate Change

A student seminar on “Shifting epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases due to climate change” was organized by the Academic Society of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Bhubaneswar on November 26 at in LT-5, KIMS under the guidance of Dr. Ratikanta Tripathy, Dr. Jyotirmayee Bahinipati, Dr. Nirmal K. Mahakud, Dr. Swarnalata Das and Dr. Alpana Mishra.

KIMS Principal Brig. Prof. Dr. Ambika Prasad Mohanty addressed the students on the importance of the topic and praised the Academic Society for organizing the seminar.

The speakers were students from the 2019 MBBS batch. The seminar began with the “introduction” of the topic by Hiya De. Then Sayanjyoti Mohapatra, spoke on“Climate change associated infections”. Dristi Shahi spoke on “Effect of climate change on non-communicable diseases”.

Racherla Amala delivered a talk on “Climate conscious policy, surveillance and prevention’’. Then Aditi Jaiswal spoke on “Anticipatory guidance to ‘at risk’ adults and children”.

KIMS Vice-Principal Prof. Dr. Shubhransu Patro, HODs and faculties of different departments also graced the occasion. First year post-graduate students and undergraduate students of 2019, 2020 and 2021 batch also attended the seminar.
