KIMS Rheumatology Faculties Help Physicians from Bangladesh Conduct Immunology Course

A group of physicians from Bangladesh conducted a 4-day short course on immunology for practicing physicians with the help of various clinical immunologists, basic immunologists and rheumatologists from India. This course spanned over two weekends.

Faculties of The Dept of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, KIMS took active part in the program as speakers and panellists. The Head of Dept, Prof. Ramnath Misra delivered a talk on ‘MHC, antigen presentation, complements and phagocytosi’ on the 21st of November, 2020. Also, Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Assistant professor of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, delivered talks on ‘Infection and Immunity and on Vaccines’.

The course co-ordinator was Prof. Debashish Danda, Immediate past President, Indian Rheumatology Association and President Elect, Asia-Pacific League against Rheumatology (APLAR). The chairmen were amongst the most prominent physicians from Bangladesh such as Dr Syed Atiqul Haq, Present President of APLAR and Prof Quazi Tariqul Islam. Interestingly, Prof. Debashish Danda and three of the other speakers including Dr Sakir have all been students of Prof. Misra.

The program was broadcast live on Zoom and Facebook live with hundred plus attendees. There was wide appreciation of the program and specially the concomitant question answer sessions.
