KIMS Doctor Receives ICMR Award

Dr. Ansuman Panigrahi, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KIMS, KIIT Deemed to be University has been selected by the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi for the prestigious “ICMR Prize for Biomedical Research Conducted in Underdeveloped Areas-2019” for his outstanding research achievements during the last five years, i.e., 2014-2018.

Dr. Panigrahi’s research areas focused on the slum population, one of the most disadvantaged sections of the society which included nutritional status of slum children; mental health status of slum women; adaptive functioning or developmental status of girl children residing in slum areas; exclusive breast-feeding practices among slum women; and tobacco products marketed in slums. Based on the research work, he published original research papers in PubMed/Web of Science/Scopus, indexed journals.
