KIMS Conducts Short-Term Training Programme on “Decoding Disease to Designing Drugs: A biomarker- Drug interface”

The Short-Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Decoding Disease to Designing Drugs: The Biomarker –Drug Interface” successfully conducted by KIMS from 27-31st July 2026. The 5-day programme was formally addressed by the Dignitaries AVM, Prof. (Dr.) R C Das, Dean and Principal, KIMS; Prof. (Dr.) Manas Ranjan Behera, Medical Superintendent, KIMS; Prof. Gopal C Kundu, Director R & D, KIIT DU;  Prof. (Dr.) Shubhransu Patro, Associate Dean R & D, KIMS; Prof. Suresh Chandra Satapathy,  Director, Doctoral Research and Publication, R & D Dept. KIIT DU; Dr. Amlana Panda, Assistant Registrar, KIIT DU; Prof. Ashok K Badamali, Director, KABEEL Simulation and Skill Upgradation Center and Sr. Consultant, Cardiac Anesthesia, and Dr. Bandita Panda, Research Scientist-Clinical Proteomics and Genomics, Scientific Officer, Research and Development Department, KIMS.

All Dignitaries briefed the purpose of the training, scope of advanced research and importance of topic in disease decoding, Biomarker identification and drug designing. Faculty members, PG and PhD scholars of various departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Medicine, Rheumatology and immunology of KIMS, Hi-Tech Medical College and SJMCH, Puri participated and completed the full 5 day course, which covered Lectures, Tutorials and Hands-on training.

Lecture book with Lab Manual containing lectures and detail protocol of hands-on training was released by the dignitaries, Head of the Departments of Anatomy, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pathology and Cardiothoracic Vascular Disease (CTVS) along with Speaker Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Jena and Course coordinator during the event. Theme-based creative contest winners were also announced by Prof. (Dr.) Shubhransu Patro.

The technical sessions were delivered by distinguished experts including Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Jena,Cardiology Dept., KIMS; Prof. Chandan Goswami, Biological Sciences, NISER; Prof. Prajna Paramita Samanta, HOD, Anatomy Dept., KIMS; Prof. Ranjana Giri, HOD Pathology Dept., KIMS; Prof. Basanti Pathi,HOD; Prof. Kumudini PanigrahiProf. (Dr.) Prasanta Padhan, HOD, Immunology & Rheumatology Dept.; Dr. Bandita Panda, Scientist- Clinical Proteomics and Genomics, Research and Development Dept.; Dr. Sidhartha Kar, Associate Professor, School of Pharmacy; Dr. Alok Kumar Panda, Assistant Professor, SAS; and Prof. Gopal C. Kundu, Director, Research and Development (RDI), KIIT DU.

The sessions were reviewed by an expert panel comprising Prof. Ashok K. Badamali, Director, KAABEEL Simulation and skill upgradation Center; Prof. Madhusmita Panda, HOD Anatomy Dept, SCB Medical College & Hospital; and Prof. Pramila Jena, HOD, Obs and Gyn Dept. KIMS while the hands-on training was coordinated by Dr. Bandita Panda.

The valedictory session was presided over by Dean and Principal, AVM Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Das, who distributed certificates to all participants. Creative contest awards were presented to Ms. Alipsa Biswal (Winner), Mr. Khushis Patel (Second Runner-up), and Ms. Debjani Dash (Third Runner-up). The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bandita Panda, Course Coordinator, STTP-2026.
