The KAR (Kick-start Self Defence, Active Lifestyle, Resilient MindSet) module is a vital initiative by the Central IAP aimed at comprehensively empowering youth. Its core significance lies in equipping children and adolescents with essential life skills that blend physical protection, active living, and mental toughness. Remarkably this transformative training program was organized for the very first time in Odisha, setting a new benchmark for holistic development.

The IAP Action Plan KAR Module 2026 was successfully held at the KIMS under the Youth Wellness Programme. Conceptualized by the Women’s Paediatric Forum (WPF) in remembrance of the RG Kar incident, the module focussed on empowering youth and young doctors through self-defence training, active living, resilience, and mental well-being.

As many as 150 MBBS students (2023 batch) and 50 KISS Sports Judo students participated while the key resource persons were National Faculty Dr. Madhu Raturi (National Coordinator & WPF President) and Dr. Sangita Lodha (National Convener), alongside local faculty and the KISS Judo team, who led interactive sessions and live self-defence demos using everyday objects.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Prof. R. C. Das (Principal, KIMS AVM); Prof. Manas Ranjan Behera (MS, KIMS); Prof. Arati Mallick (President, IAP Odisha); and Dr. Geetanjali Sethy (Central EB Member, IAP).

In fact, the academic partners of the event were KIMS, KIIT University, IAP Odisha, IAP Khurda Branch, and WPF Odisha.

The event, which was also live-streamed, received overwhelming appreciation from students and faculties alike. Special thanks were extended to the KIMS leadership for complete administrative and logistical support.
