Indian Organ Donation Day in KIMS Organ pledging Endeavour of Art of Giving Launched

Indian Organ Donation Day was observed in KIMS today to encourage the society towards organ donation and save precious lives.

Joining the function as the chief guest, the Founder of KIIT and KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta said organ donation is another form of Art of Giving, and launched the programme for organ pledging endeavour of Art of Giving (AoG) in joint collaboration with KIIT, KISS and KIMS.

During the occasion Dr. Samanta was presented with an appreciation certificate in recognition of his selfless decision to be a part of noble and joint endeavour of Art of Giving for promotion of organ donation campaign through his pledge for organ donation.

Addressing the audience Prof. Saranjit Singh, VC, KIIT DU said, new budding doctors should be awarded for encouraging organ donation. It is our responsibility to reach out to the community to make awareness among people on organ donation, he said.

Dr. CBK Mohanty, Pro-VC, KIIT School of Medicine said, organ donors are the real heroes of the society. Organ donation is a great contribution to humanity. Organ donation can give a second chance at life to those in need of a transplant. Every year, thousands of people die waiting for a suitable organ donor. Only organ donors can save their lives, he added.

IBrig (Dr.) Ambika P. Mohanty, Principal, School of Medicine informed about different activities held at KIMS during the day. Dr. Shubhransu Patro, Vice-Principal, KIMS proposed the vote of thanks. Prof.  Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty  , Registra, KIIT DU also spoke on the occasion.

Among others Advisor to Founder, Dr. R. N. Samanta; MS, KIMS, Dr. R. C. Dash; Deans, Directors and students of KIMS, KINS were present. During this occasion a continuous medical education (CME) was organized by KIMS on organ donation day to spread awareness on organ donation.
