Dept. of Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology, KIMS Participates in Regional Rheumatology Conference
The Dept. of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, KIMS took an active part in the Regional Rheumatology Conference organized by the Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA) Odisha Chapter over Zoom platform on 30th September 2020. The Head of Dept and Dean of R&D, Prof. Ramnath Mishra was invited as an expert Panelist for the meet. The other panelists included his student and current head of Rheumatology at SCB Medical College, Prof. Bidyut Das, and former president of Odisha IRA, Dr. Bharat Panigrahi.
Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Rheumatology, KIMS was an invited speaker. He showcased how difficult it is to manage refractory cases of lupus nephritis and how a novel form of treatment was attempted with success at KIMS. He also presented other similar attempts from around the globe using different approaches to target antibodies producing “plasma cells” in lupus nephritis. Other speakers included Prof. Jyoti Parida and Dr. Pradeepta, both former students of Prof. Ramnath Misra.
Dr. Prasanta Pradhan, Associate Professor of Rheumatology, contributed to the virtual conference as an executive member of Odisha IRA.
