The cadaveric oath ceremony of the newly admitted MBBS batch of 2024-25 was celebrated by the Department of Human Anatomy of KIMS on October 29.

It was graced by Dean & Principal, KIMS Brig. Prof. (Dr.) Ambika Prasad Mohanty. He shared his experience as a medical student and his first day with the cadaver. The HOD Anatomy Prof. (Dr.) Prajna Paramita Samanta highlighted the importance of the cadaveric dissection in the life of a medical graduate as a foundation to become a successful Doctor.

All the faculty of Anatomy participated in this event. The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Samanta.

The cadaveric oath is an important threshold for the beginning of medical studies. This is done on the first day as a pledge to show respect and dignity for the cadaver they will be working with. The cadavers have been donated by the relatives and thus this is a unique way to express gratitude to the donors and their families. It will help the students to develop empathy with the cadaver as a silent teacher.
